I am a tea drinker. For some reason I don't like coffee and I rarely drink it. I rely on Tea and Soda for my caffeine. So, when I heard of Golden Moon Tea I was anxious to try some of their products.
I was sent the Tippy Earl Grey Tea. I have actually never tried Earl Grey before (I normally drink Chai) so I wasn't sure what to expect. Here is the description of the Tippy Earl Grey from Golden Moon Tea's website: "Golden Moon's classic Earl Grey recipe was given to 19th Century British Prime Minister, Earl Grey, by a Chinese Tea Trader. Its subtle essences of bergamot and lavender emit a calming aroma and smooth taste. Our blend is made with high-quality loose leaf tea containing a large number of buds or tips."
What is the difference between regular Early Grey and the Tippy Earl Grey?
"Tippy Earl Grey is Better Early Grey
It's difficult to improve upon a tea so revered as Earl Grey. But we believe we've done so, in creating a Tippy Early Grey that takes the traditional and adds layers. To start, the base of our Early Grey contains substantially more tips than others. This requires meticulous plucking, and lends a unending complexity to your cup. Then, we add not just the traditional oil of bergamot, but fresh, fresh lavander that blends sublimely with the citrus of the former. All real reasons many open-minded connoisseurs of Early Grey claim that Golden Moon's Tippy is the best Earl Grey they've ever sipped"
Like I always do with tea, the first thing I did was take off the lid of the tin and take a sniff. I knew instantly that I would like this tea. The Tippy Earl Grey has a nice deep citrus scent with a hint of lavender. The smell of this tea had me salivating and I couldn't wait to try it. I wasn't sure how much I should use, but I like my tea strong. So, I used about 20oz of water and 2 tablespoons of tea. It came out perfect! The only problem I had was that I was sharing the tea with my Husband and he has a lot higher heat tolerance than I do. So, he almost finished it before it was cool enough for me to drink! Not fair. The second time I made it, I made two cups. : )
The Tippy Earl Grey tasted very similar to the smell. It has a deep, delicious citrus flavor. You can also slightly taste the lavender and I found that it left a bit of a minty taste in my mouth. It is delicious! It's a very refreshing tea and it doesn't leave an aftertaste. I think I can now include Eary Grey in with my favorite teas...at least Golden Moon Tea's Tippy Earl Grey.
I also really loved the tin that the Tippy Earl Grey comes in. It is a beautiful silver tin that seals surprisingly well. Teas that I have received from other companies have spilled out easily. With this tin, if it falls over the lid does not pop off. I'm planning on keeping the tin and refilling it with more Golden Moon Tea.
One lucky reader will win a tin of Earl Grey Tea from Golden Moon Tea
