What Would Rob Do? by Rob Sachs Review and Giveaway

What would you do if you were stuck in the middle seat of an airplane?
What would you do if you clogged the toilet at a friend's house?
What would you do if you were seriously under dressed for a party?

Do any of these situations sound familiar? If you're human, you've probably had lots of cringe-worthy moments like these to live down in your life. Rob Sachs has certainly been there, too. In his successful What Would Rob Do? podcast series, Sachs has consulted with celebrities ranging from Fabio to Erik Estrada to Air Supply on how to deal with dozens of daily dilemmas and common conundrums. Now he brings together a wealth of these insider tips with tales from his colorful life experiences in a single survival guide to fixing a full spectrum of life's most vexing minor mishaps and speed bumps.

So the next time you accidentally decorate your shirt with spilled Chinese takeout, don't ask "Why me?" Ask "What would Rob do?" and get through every tight spot with your head held high.

Learn what to do about:
* Forgetting people's names * Singing karaoke * Getting pulled over for speeding * Going to a nude beach * Going to a high school reunion * Picking a good date movie * Stepping in dog poop * Coping with pimples * Surviving parenthood

Honestly, I have never really listened to NPR so I had never heard of Rob Sachs. However, after reading the synapse of this book, I had to check it out. I honestly expected it to be similar to a Worst Case Scenario book with added humor. It really is nothing like that. This book is set up as more of what Rob did ("What Would Rob Do?") and how he found himself in a situation followed by a discussion of what he should have or could have done with "expert" testimony. The experts are not always helpful and sometimes super amusing. He has everyone from Fabio (yes the macho airhead that can not believe it is butter) to a "professional dog poop remover" (yes that is a person, not a product).

While this book did teach me a few things (like tips on how to avoid getting the middle seat of an airplane and how to best remove stains from shirts), it is more an entertaining read for laughs than a help book. I had planned on reading this book a little at a time, but I found it so entertaining that I ended up reading most of it straight through. I did have to skip over a few sections because I found them lame or boring (Matchmaking?, Playing Poker?, Making a Great Playlist?). Overall though, I still loved this book. It gave me hours of entertainment and there were quite a few sections that I HAD to read out-loud to my Hubby because they were so funny.
