DownEast Basics is a clothing company that has not only comfortable, but very stylish clothing and accessories. I have seen their name and their clothing many times in the last few years and I was thrilled to have the chance to work with them. I received the Gourmet Garden Skirt for review:
I decided on this skirt because the colors and designs work great year round. I live in Florida, so I wear shorts and skirts year round. I also liked that it was an A-line skirt which can be very flattering and feminine. The red ribbon sash is removable. You can use it as a belt to define your waist (as pictured), or you can leave it off. I personally prefer to not use it. I normally wear shirts that fall down lower than my waistline and I never tuck them in. By removing the belt sash, it avoids a bulky belt under your shirt.
When the skirt arrived, I was very impressed with the quality of the skirt. It is well sewn and has more details than I imagined it would. The skirt has a very soft cotton on the outside. On the inside of the Gourmet Garden Skirt there are layers. The entire inside is lined with a black silky feeling material. It allows the skirt to slide gently onto your body and feel comfortable. At the bottom of this silky layer there is an additional double layer of black mesh tulle material sewed in to give the skirt volume at the bottom and keep it from falling flat.
I ordered this skirt a size smaller than what my size should have been because skirts normally run big on me. This is not the case with DownEast Basics. It is a little too small for me. So, I think that their sizing charts are accurate. I recommend following their sizing charts to determine your size when ordering. The skirt did feel really nice on me. It is very comfortable and it fell nicely from the extra layers at the bottom.
The only thing I disliked about DownEast Basics is that their inventory seems to run out often. You sometimes have to check several items to find your size. Luckily, they are constantly adding new items to their inventory. Since they have so many amazing items, I just used the inventory to help me make my decision.
I would definitely order from DownEast Basics again! The Gourmet Garden Skirt is only $29.99 and is worth every penny.
