Chicken Soup for the Soul: Think Positive Review and Giveaway

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Think Positive has 101 Inspirational Stories about counting your blessings and having a positive attitude. This version is extremely appealing to me. I often try to keep a positive attitude, but I find that as I get older and experience more trauma in becomes more difficult. I have endured the deaths of at least half a dozen loved ones that I was very close to (including a step brother). I have watched my young Mother experience cancer, multiple kidney issues, a ton of pain, multiple surgeries and have to face the fact that her pain will never go away. I have myself experienced a life-altering injury, several surgeries, over a year on crutches and excruciating arthritis that I will have the rest of my life. Despite all this, I am a pretty happy person. I am extremely in Love with my Husband (whom I have been with over 8 years) and I have lots of plans for the future. I will try to remain positive and this book has definitely given me some things to think about.

Here are the Chapter’s in Chicken Soup for the Soul:

~Words that Changed My Life~
~Health Challenges~
~Every Day is Special~
~Role Models~
~Count Your Blessings~
~Overcoming Adversity~
~Attitude Adjustments~
~Silver Linings~
~Moving Forward~
~Gratitude~

Of course, my favorite chapter was the Health Challenges chapter. Since I can relate to health challenges this chapter called out to me. It is nice to read other peoples stories because it reminds you that someone always has it worse off than you do. I was recently at a doctor’s office when an older lady looked at the Woman beside her and said, “I ache pretty bad, but it is much better than the alternative”. I now think of this every time I have pain and think of complaining. It is better to feel pain than to be dead.

My only complaint about this Chicken Soup for the Soul is that the comics are missing! The book is filled with wonderful quotes (several of which I have copied down) and stories. It also has a “meet our contributor” section at the end. Some of the stories really touched me and there was even one that mentioned the author was a blogger. I was pleased to find their websites included in this section.

Honestly, I think this book is great for anyone. Whether you are going through a hard time in your life, you are a positive person, or a negative person, or even a person who enjoys stories this book will make you smile and appreciate your life.

I love Chicken Soup for the Soul. After a rough day at work/with the kids/with school and I'm feeling terrible it would be great to have a short uplifting story to read. Something that will help put the world in a different light and give my the energy to get up the next day and do it all over again!

My DIL lost her Father two weeks ago and I would do anything to take away her pain, but I know that is not possible so maybe she could find some comfort and inspiration in this book. I just lent her my copy of Chicken Soup for the Christian Woman's Soul.
