Conair and Scunci are both companies that I have always loved. I grew up blow drying my hair with a Conair hair dryer, looking into a Conair mirror and using Scunci’s to put my hair in a ponytail. So, I was very excited to work with both of them. I was sent the Conair Tourmaline Ceramic Small Porcupine Round Brush, the Conair Gel Grips Cushion Brush, Scunci Evolution hair ties and Scunci Upzing double combs. You should have seen the smile on my face when these arrived. : )
*Conair Tourmaline Ceramic Small Porcupine Round Brush- I have never owned a round brush. I tried to use a friends round brush when I was a preteen and I ended up wrapping ALL my hair around the brush and crying in pain. Needless to say, this brush intimidated me. Luckily, Conair told me how to use it. I now love this brush.
The Tourmaline is a gemstone that is crushed into a fine powder and infused into the nylon bristles and ceramic barrels of the brush. The Tourmaline works to naturally release negative ions. This seals in natural oils, reduces static electricity and leaves hair shiny and silky. This brush also has a powdered layer of ceramic coating over the metal base of the brush to evenly distribute and hold heat longer.
I have used this brush both with and without a blow dryer and I love it both ways. It really helps a lot with my frizzy hair. Definitely use it with a blow dryer if you have time. It made my hair really shiny, soft and silky and also minimized frizz. If I don’t have time to blow dry my hair, I normally use the Conair Cushion Brush (read below) to do the initial brush and then run the Tourmaline round brush through my hair to lessen frizz and add silkiness.
*Conair Gel Grips Cushion Brush- I Love this brush! I always buy cushion brushes and this one is definitely one that I would pick out for myself. My hair is long and tangles easily, so I need a strong brush with a flexible base. This fashionable hair brush is a girly pink color. It has a softgel handle that conforms to the shape of your hand as you hold it. Honestly, I don’t see a great practical benefit in the handle, but it is pretty cool and fun to play with. I have been using this brush for about two weeks and it works great. It is still in perfect condition and looks like it will last for a long time. I have also noticed that I am losing less hair to brushing since I received it, so it must have a better cushion than my old brush.
*Scunci Evolution hair ties- These hair ties are a clear plastic “jelly” look and feel. To be honest, I thought I was going to hate them. I normally use the Scunci elastic hair ties. The Evolution hair ties look like they would get caught on your hair easily. I was still eager to try them. I decided to use one in my hair overnight (I like to sleep with my hair up). The next morning I was amazed! My hair looked better than it ever had after sleeping all night. It was almost exactly like it was when I fell asleep. The Evolution hair tie not only kept my hair in place, but it didn’t really pull on my hair (no more than the normal hair tie pull). To be honest, I have not used anything BUT Evolution hair ties since I got them.
Another great thing about these hair ties is that they do not stretch out of shape. I have been using the same two hair ties for about two weeks and they are exactly the same size as they were when I got them. My old elastic hair ties only last a few days because my hair is long and thick and stretches them out of place.
*Scunci Upzing double combs- I have seen the Upzing double combs in stores and I always thought that they were neat, but I had never tried them before. To be honest, I thought they would break the second I tried to use them. I also thought that they would be hard to use. Scunci amazed me again with this one. I grabbed the sides and top of my hair in one hand and the Upzing in the other. After declining an offer of help from my Husband (I wanted to see if I could do it alone), I put one comb in my hair, pulled it over my hair and placed the other comb in. Then I let go and stood there in awe. That was easy! Hubby told me that it looked good too! I ran to the mirror and agreed with him. It looked great. I should mention that my hair does not like to stay up, but it did with the Upzing. I walked around with the Upzing in for several hours and it didn’t fall out. I also tried it with all my hair up and it worked just as well. I also like that the Upzing is light and gentle on your hair. It didn’t pull at all and I couldn’t even tell it was in after I forgot about it. You do have to be gentle when storing these because the beads can get caught easily.
