Cinch!: Conquer Cravings, Drop Pounds, and Lose Inches is the latest book by New York Times Bestseller Cynthia Sass. You may remember her previous book Flat Belly Diet. Cinch! is a new break-through 30 day weight loss plan designed to leave you feeling full and satisfied while enjoying foods that maximize your metabolism and burn fat.
When I originally requested this book, I was planning on going on the Cinch! diet to test it out. However, as most of you know, I ended up finding out that I had high cholesterol, high blood pressure and was extremely close to becoming diabetic. As a result my Doctor place me on a low carb, low sugar and low salt diet. Unfortunately, Cinch! does not fit within the strict requirements of my new diet regimen. So, instead I read the book and I was surprised at how much great information it contained that would help me with my current diet. It also seems like a great plan that would definitely work. I plan on trying it in the future when my health will allow it.
For the first 5 days of Cinch! you are on a "Fast Forward" plan that will jump-start your diet. You eat 5 "Superfoods" in this first five days. These 5 foods are versatile, filling, detoxifying and they support weight loss. I know what you are thinking...what on earth am I going to cook for 5 days with only 5 foods? No worries, Cynthia Sass gives you a menu and even an exact shopping list for all 4 days. Talk about making a diet easy! She also gives you detailed lists of what you can drink and what spices/ seasonings you can have. After looking at the menu, I could definitely do this Fast Forward plan. There is also an included food diary within the book to record your food times, physical state and emotional state. The food sounds yummy and satisfying. You can lose up to 7 pounds in the first 5 days on this Fast Forward plan!
The next 25 days your food choices expand and you continue to lose weight. Sass has several interchangeable menus that you can use to create your own meal plan (some examples: Open-Faced Pesto Egg Sandwich, Black Bean Tacos with Cilantro-Jalapeno Guacamole, Cinnamon Walnut Apple Crisp, Smoked Gouda and Grilled Onion Salad and Spinach, Artichoke and Olive Chicken Pasta). Perhaps the part everyone will love most is that you are REQUIRED TO EAT CHOCOLATE everyday! You will definitely not feel deprived on this diet. The book also teaches you how to create your own menus. I think that this is definitely one of the best features. It allows you to learn how to eat healthier as a lifestyle and not just go through another diet fad where you follow directions and menus until you are bored or too deprived to continue. Cynthia Sass goes a few steps farther and includes sections on exercise and how to find time for it and learn to enjoy it. She also includes a section on emotional eating.
My favorite part of this book and what helped me the most in my situation is her little boxes with medical information or why you should/should not eat certain foods. For example; why frozen is as good as fresh, whole eggs won't hurt your heart (I had been worried about this when my Doctor told me I could eat eggs and I had high cholesterol!), say no to gmo, more fiber, less belly fat, etc.
This book and diet plan is definitely a winner! Pick up a copy of Cinch!: Conquer Cravings, Drop Pounds, and Lose Inches and keep your resolution to lose weight this year.
