Eat Your Peas for Mom by Cheryl Karpen Review

I am a huge fan of gift books. They are sweet and sentimental and make great coffee table books. I had never heard of the Eat Your Peas collection before. I decided to check out the “for Mom” version so that I can pass it on to my Mother.

I was pleasantly surprised when I received this book. It is beautifully illustrated and perfectly worded. The pages are texturized which gives the book a homemade and personal feel. The colors are bright and vibrant. The illustrations are flowers, hearts and designs that perfect the look without making it look tacky or crowded.

As I started reading through the pages, I realized that with each flip this book contains exactly what I would say to my Mom if I could put my feelings into words. It is one thing to say “Mom, I Love You, I appreciate you, you are a great Mom”. It is another to say it deeply and through a beautiful book that feels like it was made for you. If you have a problem putting your emotions into words, this is definitely the book for you. If you are great with expressing your feelings in words, but you want to do it in a pretty book, this is also for you.

This book says it is a “3-minute forever book” and I agree with that statement. While it took me more than 3 minutes to read the book, that was mainly because I was pouring over the words, examining the illustrations and enjoying the thoughts. This book could definitely be read in 3 minutes. It is also a book that your Mother is sure to hold onto forever and read when she is missing you (I miss you Mom!!).

So, what is with the peas? Well, Cheryl Karen (the author) says “My mama always said “Eat your peas! They’re good for you.” The pages of this book are filled with nutrients for your heart. They’re simply good for you too!”

I definitely recommend this book. It is a fantastic book for any daughter to give to her Mother. I am actually considering buying the other “Eat Your Peas” books now. I hope there will be a Dad version in the future.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
