Flipflop Wines Review

Flipflop Wines is a company that combines many of my favorite things: flip flops, wine and charity. We will get to the charity part in a moment, but first let me tell you why Flipflop wines are amazing. First of all, they are very frugal at only $7 a bottle. $7 wine is almost unheard of (especially wine that tastes great). They also have the absolute best wine labels. They not only tell you the usual stuff like the type of wine and it’s vintage and appellation, but they tell you what it tastes like, what to eat it with, how to serve it and they level of sweet/ dry of the wine. How cool is that? I never know what foods to pair which wines with and Flipflop does it for me. : ) I received two wines to try: Riesling and Pinot Grigio.

2010 Washington Riesling:

Tastes like: Medium-bodied, Riesling with peach, apricot and melon which leads to a satisfying, smooth finish.

It is full of: Tropical notes and sweet aromas

Eat with: Tofu stir-fry, shredded pork tacos and sake sashimi

Serve: chilled

This wine is 13% alcohol and is in between sweet and medium sweet.

2009 California Pinot Grigio:

Tastes like: Light-bodied, refreshing Pinot Grigio with tropical citrus, ripe pear and a zesty, clean finish.

It is full of: Balanced crisp acidity

Eat with: Bruschetta, spaghetti carbonara or eggplant parmesan.

Serve: chilled

The Pinot Grigio is 12% alcohol and is in between medium sweet and medium dry.

While I am really a red wine woman, I do occasionally drink white wine. I also cook with white wine quite often. I was very impressed with the quality of this wine (particularly for the price!). My favorite of the two wines is the Riesling, but they are both good. I love how light the Pinot Grigio is. It is a great cooking wine also. I have used it to add liquid and flavor when cooking my hamburger, onions, mushrooms and green peppers for burritos. Yum!

Flipflop wines is also a charitable company. They are teaming up with Sole4Souls and donating a pair of shoes to someone in need for every bottle of wine purchased (up to the first 100,000 in the first year). How amazing is that? Your awesome $7 bottle of wine also buys shoes for a person in need! Check out Flipflop wines today and like them on Facebook!
