Olive Garden Never Ending Pasta Bowl Review and Giveaway

Olive Garden has always held a special place in my heart. It is the restaurant where my Husband and myself had our first date over 9 years ago. It is where we had our first several anniversary dinners. It is even where we had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding. So, I was thrilled when Olive Garden asked me if I would like to work with them on a review. I was even more excited when I found out they wanted me to review the Never Ending Pasta Bowl.

The Never Ending Pasta Bowl is back at Olive Garden through October 9th. For $8.95 you get unlimited soup or salad, unlimited breadsticks and unlimited pasta with 42 different combinations. There is definitely something that everyone will like on this menu and you can not beat that price (a bowl of soup alone is regularly priced at $4.95!). You can even go online to http://www.neverendingpastabowl.com/ and make your plan of attack before you arrive! : )

Hubby and myself both decided to go with soup. Olive Garden has four delicious soups and we both have our favorites. His is the Zuppa Toscana (Spicy sausage, russet potatoes and cavolo greens in a creamy broth.). My favorite is the Chicken and Gnocchi (A creamy soup made with roasted chicken, traditional Italian dumplings and spinach). The soup is so good that we often ask for a second bowl when we are at Olive Garden (it is always unlimited). This trip was not different. If anything, the soup was even better. Look at how yummy this looks:

Hubby's Zuppa Toscana. See the HUGE chunks of potato and sausage?

My Chicken and Gnocchi

Would you believe that it tastes even better that it looks? It is fantastic! It is even better when you take the buttery, garlicy and fresh breadsticks and dip them in the soup:

As tempting as it was to just fill up on soup and breadsticks, I was excited to try the Never Ending Pasta Bowl. There are SO many options. After much debate I decided to go with traditional spaghetti and the Pizzaiola Meat Sauce. This red Pizzaiola Meat Sauce is made with pan-seared beef, pepperoni and Italian sausage. It is by far the best red pasta sauce I have ever tried. It is so delicious! It has small chunks of meat in it and they sprinkle it with thinly grated cheese. I also opted for the meat option (you can choose from chicken, italian sausage and meatballs for $2.95 extra). I went with meatballs for my Pizzaiola spaghetti. I received 2 HUGE meatballs. The meatballs are moist and melt in your mouth. They were perfectly cooked and complimented the Pizzaiola sauce really well.

Yummy moist meatballs. Definitely worth the extra $2.95!
Hubby went with Fettuccine with Meat Sauce and Italian Sausage. I personally liked mine a lot better, but He loved his. That is the great thing about the Never Ending Pasta Bowl, you can get what YOU want and you don't have to worry about ordering something you don't like. You can always get another combination. Here is a picture of the Hubby's food:

At this point we were wishing we had not had so many breadsticks (but they are SO buttery and good!). We were definitely full, but for the sake of the review and the "never ending" part we decided to split one more pasta dish. For this one I ordered something I really wanted to try, but would not have ordered from a menu where it was my only dish. I went with the Penne with Roasted Mushroom Parmesan and Chicken. I really am a red sauce girl and not a huge fan of parmesan, so I didn't expect to like this. I was shocked when it turned out to be my favorite out of all of the combinations! The chicken was shredded (which worked out perfectly with the pasta and sauce) and the sauce was light and creamy. It had the perfect amount of Parmesan (not overbearing), sun dried tomatoes and chunks of delicious mushrooms. Next time I go to Olive Garden for the Never Ending Pasta Bowl, I am ordering this first:

You HAVE to try this sauce!
Not only was the food great, but we had fantastic service. The waiters and waitresses at Olive Garden always seem to go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied. The ambiance of the restaurant is also something that I look forward to. I know that we can almost always get a private table and have an intimate and romantic evening. The next time you are looking for a great night out but you want to be frugal; check out Olive Garden. They also have new Paninis at lunch (Mon-Fri 11am-4pm). You can choose from Grilled Chicken Caprese, Grilled Chicken Florentine and Grilled Steak and Portobello for just $8.95. The Paninis are served with unlimited soup AND salad and breadsticks.

Remember, the Never Ending Pasta Bowl ends October 9th!
