Tatcha Skincare Review and Giveaway

Tatcha is a Japanese Beauty company that is inspired by ancient Geisha skincare traditions as translated from a 200-year old text. Tatcha has a really neat story:

"For over 300 years, Japan’s geisha have been held in awe for their enduring wisdom and breathtakingly beautiful, porcelain skin.
Perfected through centuries of timeless rituals, it was widely believed these beauty secrets had been passed down from one generation of geisha to the next by word of mouth alone.

That is, until TATCHA rediscovered their coveted daily regimes in a 200-year-old manuscript, written in the twilight of Japan’s Edo Period.

Traveling back to the City of 2000 Temples (Kyoto), TATCHA has worked with teams of scientists, scholars and geisha themselves to decipher the rituals and ingredients from this text.  What we uncovered is the very foundation of Eastern skincare and beauty.

TATCHA’s formulas pay homage to the icon of Eastern beauty and our own storied heritage. Now the secrets of the geisha live on through a proprietary process involving the most precious green teas, Okinawa red algae, rice bran and other time-tested ingredients."

I was sent Tatcha's Radiant Deep Brightening Serum and a Tatcha Skincare Collection Beauty Sampler. I must admit that my expectations were high, but they increased even more when I received a beautiful package in the mail. The packaging makes it obvious that Tatcha really care about their products and their costumers.

I couldn't resist tearing the sampler open the second I received it!

The products came with "The Ritual":

The first product you use is the Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil. I was a little hesitant to use this since I have oily skin and normally avoid oils. However, Tatcha recommended it to me knowing I had oily skin. The Camellia Cleansing Oil has a nice, fresh lightly floral scent. When you first pour out some of the cleansing oil, it feels and looks like any other oil. It is slick and it seems like it will turn your face into a grease pod. It feels oily as you rub it onto your face, then when you go to rinse it off, it transforms into something else. It becomes slightly foamy and makes your skin feel amazing. It washes off easily and is designed to remove makeup as well (even waterproof makeup). The Cleansing Oil is definitely now my all-time favorite cleanser. It leaves my skin slightly taunt, but not dry. Clean, but not oily. Dare I say that my face feels like a baby's bottom? Maybe not yet, but we still have a few steps in the Ritual.

The second part of the ritual is my other favorite Tatcha product: Polished Rice Enzyme Powders. I received sample packets of the different ones (gentle, deep and classic). These are unlike any other skincare product I have used. They are a dry powder that you mix with water in your hands to create a creamy foam. You then rub the foam on your face and it exfoliates and cleanses. The rice and papaya enzymes work to release debris from the skin without burning, tingling or harsh abrasives. The Enzyme Powder left my skin feeling even softer and cleaner (yes, closer to a baby's bottom). The Enzyme Powders are so fun and interactive (who knew that was possible with skin care?) that they make me want to actually stay on top of my skin care routine.

So far we have talked about an oil and an exfoliating powder. At this point your face would be feeling dry and irritated with most companies, but not with Tatcha. I think there is a tad bit of magic in these products.

The third step is the Radiant Deep Brightening Serum. This serum can be used morning or night to moisturize, prevent future age spots and clarify existing age spots. I am 29 and do not have any age spots, but I figure that I can never be too cautious when it comes to aging. It is better to use aging products early and never have issues than it is to use them too late. It is basically a kick-butt, age-defying moisturizer. It has the same clean, slightly floral scent that the cleansing oil has. It left my skin feeling moist, but not oily.

The fourth and final step is the Supple moisture rich silk cream. This cream is also anti-aging. It provides moisture while promoting the skin's natural hyaluronic acid synthesis. It absorbs quickly and effortlessly while leaving a weightless and invisible network of silk on the skin. It also doubles as a natural primer. Who wouldn't want silk on their skin? This cream seems to have the same scent and leaves your skin feeling soft and ....well, silky. It doesn't make my skin oily feeling either; it just makes it feel happy.

The last product included in the sampler are the Aburatorigami Japanese Beauty Papers. These are oil blotting papers that have gold flakes in them! Talk about feeling pampered. The beauty papers are handmade, all-natural, fragrance free and suitable for all skin types. I have been carrying these around with me everywhere since I am an oily-skinned Woman who lives in Florida. They are great for removing oil without messing up your makeup.

I can honestly say that Tatcha has the best skin care products I have ever used. While they are out of my normal price range for skin care products, I think that they are worth every cent. I will be sacrificing in another area to save up for some more Pure Cleansing Oil and Powder Enzymes. Try Tatcha if you want your skin to feel true bliss.
