We Bought A House!

So, you may have noticed that I have been a little absent recently. On June 24th we officially became first time homeowners! We have spent the last three weeks moving, unpacking, buying and putting together furniture and organizing. It is a big job to move. It is an even bigger job to move into a home that is yours. You want to fix this and update that and replace that and paint this. All of it adds up to a lot of work and a lot of money. We were lucky in the aspect that we started our home loan with no debt and a decent amount in savings.

Even still, it has been a crazy, stressful, amazing, wonderful and crazy (ohh wait...I said that?) experience. We had to buy mostly new furniture which was an ordeal. You have to go to the store and buy it, rent a truck or pay for delivery (we did a lot of quick buying in the middle of moving while we had a Uhaul since we had everything picked out in advance), put the furniture together (have you done this recently? Companies do not include real instructions now-a-days) and attempt to carry it to the room where it goes because you assembled it in a different room. Trust me, it is a lot of work. We also spent our "vacation" days actually moving. So, we have been working full time and assembling, organizing, cleaning, etc. on our days off. Needless to say, I have been busy. Blissfully busy.

I do have a few awesome posts and giveaways coming up (including a Home Depot gift card!! How appropriate!). I will also be writing a little about my experience with buying a home (so much different than what you think it is unless you have experienced it) and talking about the surprises that popped up. In the meantime, here are a few pics of the inside of my new home. It is a smaller house (3 bedroom and 1 bath) that feels huge to us since we more than doubled our living space from our small downtown apartment. It is perfect for us to start a family in (not yet, but soon). It still feels a little surreal owning a house....but we are loving it.

Our house (I blurred the address for privacy)
The right side of the Kitchen
The left side of the Kitchen
Inside our dinning room looking our the front door
Part of our living room (see the accent window? It also has dual fans)
These gorgeous flowers are all over our yard
These grow on a thorny bush that we will unfortunately have to eventually cut down
These were planted in the middle of the yard by the previous owners and surrounded by mulch
These colorful guys are all over the yard

Obviously the pictures of the house were taken before we moved in and there is more to the house than what I showed. I will be sharing more pictures later as we get the rooms set up like we want them. I am really excited to share with you my cheap "vanity" (aka table, chair, mirror, light and set of drawers). We are using one of the spare rooms as a craft room and the vanity is in there with all my makeup and perfume. I am pretty excited about it.

I'll be back to blogging regularly again soon. :)
