Battle of the Sample Boxes: Ipsy Vs. Sample Society {October}

  I have missed the last two months of Battle of the Sample Boxes since I have been so busy with the new house and family. This month I am bringing it back!  Here is what I received:

*$10 a month
*It was started by Michelle Phan (who is a Youtube Beauty Guru)
*Every month you receive a make-up bag with deluxe samples and full sized products
My October Ipsy bag:

 I also picked this Nyx pallette as a referral bonus (for referring members to Ipsy):

*Wet n Wild Fergie Photo Op Eyeshadow in Desert Festival ($4.99 at Drugstore.com)
*Zoya nail polish in Neve (full size! $8)
*Big Sexy Hair Blow Dry Volumizing Gel ($5 for 1.7oz at Drugstore.com)
* La Fresh Oil-Free Face Cleanser wipes (30 wipes = $9.99, received 10 = $3.33)
*Coastal Scents Medium Shadow Brush ($2.49)
*Ipsy Makeup Bag (unknown value)
*Bonus Nyx Palette: $12
*Total before makeup bag and bonus: $23.81 ($35.81 if you include bonus)

Initial Thoughts: Love it!! Anytime I see Zoya I am thrilled and this color is gorgeous. It is hard to tell in my picture, but it is more of a metallic purple with slight blue hues. I love La Fresh wipes even though I think they are overpriced. I'm not a fan of Wet n Wild. Not at all. I will probably trade this palette. I'm also not a fan of Big Sexy Hair products, but I am kind of excited to try this gel. I have been blow drying my hair a lot recently. I could take or leave the Coastal Scents brush. I will toss it in with my cheap brushes. I am really excited to try the Nyx palette (which I picked out. They now let you pick your referral gifts) the colors are pretty and it is a perfect size for vacation.

 Sample Society (Please use code TFL99 if you sign up)
*$15 a month
*Creation of Allure and Beauty Bar
*5 deluxe-sized samples
*$15 gift code to redeem on a $50 purchase - when any product from the brands you've sampled is included in your order.
*Expert beauty advice to accompany your samples from the editors of Allure
My October box:

*Butter London Nail Polish in Scuppered (Full Size!! $15)
*IPKN BB Cream (no size information on sample, full size is $35, est. $5)
*Diptyque 34 Boulevard St. Germain Eau de Toilette (100ml= $135, 2ml= $2.70)
*Minus 417 Hand Moisturizer (100ml= $15, 50ml= $7.50)
*Pur Lisse Youth Preserve Skin Serum (1oz= $76, 0.24oz= $18.24)
*Total: $48.44

Initial Thoughts: FULL SIZE BUTTER LONDON!! YES!! Butter London is a brand that I only have a few nail polishes from because there is no way on earth I would spend $15 a bottle. The ones I have I was able to score for free or super cheap. This color is incredible. It is a deep bronze with flecks of green, gold and pink. I am wearing it now. Love it! I am also really excited about the IPKN BB Cream. I always test out BB Creams on my hand first and this looks amazing...time to try it on my face. I have always found Pur Lisse ridiculous. It is so overpriced and the products aren't that great. However, I will use it. I am loving the hand moisturizer. It is the perfect time of year for it. The perfume is interesting. The smell changes as it sits on your skin. I like it but I would never spent $135!

This month's winner: Tough choice. I am going to go with Sample Society even though I love both of them. I will use almost everything I received. I received a gorgeous nail polish from a brand I love in both boxes also. The reason Sample Society wins is that I will use everything in the box and they are all high end brands. The Wet n Wild and Coastal Scents from Ipsy are kind of cheap throw in items.

Do you get sample boxes? What did you get?

I love the idea of these boxes. I get one, but not renewing it. It's always full of stuff I don't use. These look great!
