Liebster Award and Q&A

Today I have a post for you that is a little different. My awesome (and freaking hilarious...seriously, follow her) bloggy friend Sarah at One Random B nominated me for the Liebster Award!

We are all clearly ignoring the less than 200 followers part

I typically don't post about the awards other bloggers send me (typically due to laziness forgetfulness), but I thought it would be fun to do this one since it will give you some insight into who I am. Here are my questions and answers:

1. Who was your first kiss (and, yes, grade school stories count!)?
Well, I am going to talk about the only first kiss that mattered. It was a hot, semi-rainy late June day. I was incredibly sunburned and sore, but I had finally scored a date with the guy I was crazy about (I asked him out!). We were hitting it off great. After dinner we were walking through a park in downtown St. Pete and I was thinking about how to make the first move when he grabbed me, spun me around, dipped me and planted a kiss. That was over 11 years ago and we are now married. :)

2. Who do you think would win in a fight and why: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers?
TMNT! Duh. There is no way that lame teenagers in colored leotards could beat super-sized ninja turtles! I am somewhat biased though, I love TMNT. Turtle Power!

3. As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
You name it, I thought about it. Top picks: author, lawyer, doctor, psychiatrist, pharmacist

4. Tablets or old-fashioned books? Why?
This is a touchy subject. I am an avid reader. I don't think there has been a day in my life that I have not read a book. I love REAL books...or at least I used to. I fought the e-reader thing for a long time. However, once I got my kindle it was all over. I could have hundreds of books at my fingertips and they wouldn't kill my wrists to hold them like some of the heavy books I used to read (hello, Eragon!). I will never go back to old fashioned books again and I am somewhat sad about it.

5. What advice would you give to your 16 year-old self?
Listen to your parents! When they say not to get a credit card, they actually know what they are talking about. When they warn you not to get a car payment so young, you should listen. When they tell you that you can not afford to move out, they are right again. Listen more. Ohh and stop blowing all your money on clothes and makeup, save some of that moohlah while you can.
6. Name 2 things on your bucket list.
1) Visit Italy
2) Find a job that I actually enjoy

7. What is the riskiest action you ever took?
I'm not really a risk taker. I like to say that I am responsible. I guess it would be either lying to my parents and sneaking out for a party where I got drunk when I was supposed to be babysitting my little brother. Yes, I was in high school. Yes, I payed for it BIG TIME. Maybe that is why I don't take huge risks. I did ask my Husband out which I felt was a risk at the time.

8. Which song do you feel best describes your life?
There really isn't one that I can think of off the top of my head. I am proud about how some parts of my life have turned out (my Husband, my house, my lack of debt) and I hate some other parts (my job, how my schooling has been useless, etc). I guess I am going to share one of my favorite songs which reminds me that you have to keep fighting and trying for what you want (at least the first part of the lyrics do).

A Praise Chorus by Jimmy Eat World:

Are you going to live your life wondering
Standing in the back, looking around?
Are you going to waste your time thinking
How you've grown up, how you missed out?

Things are never going be the way you want
Where's it going to get you acting serious?
Things are never going to be quite what you want
Even at twenty five you got to start sometime

I'm on my feet,
I'm on the floor,
I'm good to go
And all I need is just to hear a song I know
I Wanna always feel like part of this was mine
I Wanna fall in love tonight

Are you going to live your life standing in the back, looking around?
Are you going to waste your time?
Gotta make a move or you'll miss out

Someone's going to ask you what it's all about
Stick around nostalgia won't let you down
Someone's going to ask you what it's all about
What you going to have to say for yourself?

Crimson and clover over and over

Our house in the middle of the street
Why did we ever meet?
Starting my rock'n'roll fantasy
Don't let's start
Why did we ever part?
Kick start my rock and rolling heart

I'm on my feet,
I'm on the floor,
I'm good to go,
So come on Davey, sing me something that I know
I Wanna always feel like part of this was mine
I Wanna fall in love tonight

9. What is your favorite quote?
I don't really have one. I read quotes and then forget them. I guess it would be John Lennon "Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans".

10. What has been your favorite travel destination?
I unfortunately have not traveled very much. Our families all live in different states, so we spend a lot of vacations in North Carolina, Kentucky or Ohio visiting them. One of my favorite vacations was to St. Augustine for our honeymoon. It is such a cool city!

11. What inspires you?
This is a long list. My Husband, My pup, My family, music, good random deeds, an amazing blog post, nature, flowers, a beautiful day, etc.

So now here are my questions to my nominees. Let’s keep the award going!

1. Who are your top 5 all time favorite bands/artists?
2. What is the one beauty product you can not live without?
3. Describe your dream vacation.
4. Do you ever think about names for your future children (whether or not you have kids now)?

6. What accomplishment of yours are you the most proud of?

8. What is your favorite movie?
9. Who do you admire/ look up to?
10. If you could have any job in the world tomorrow (without going through schooling or anything), what would it be?
