Parents: do you wish that you could gather money from all the parents in your child's classroom and give one awesome gift to your son/ daughters teacher? A gift that he/she would actually use. Does just the thought of it make you light headed? It would be difficult to make sure that all of the parents get the memo. Then there is the transfer of the cash (some of the money may end up as candy bars in the lunch room!), the responsibility and reliability of the person holding the cash. Such a hassle. Well, guess what? I have an easy and FREE solution for you: HipChip. Here is how HipChip works:

*Sign up for a free account (it only takes a few seconds)
*Start a Gift: Choose a recipient, what you would like to give and add a small amount to get the gift started ($5-$50)
*Your Group Chips In: HipChip helps you invite everyone, keeps track of everything and even sends them reminders to donate
*HipChip Prepares the gift: HipChip totals the amount donated and prepares the gift card for easy printing and instant email delivery

Basically, you spend a few minutes online setting up the account and the rest is done for you. They currently have 36 gift cards to choose from. They are companies that most people love like Sephora, Home Depot, Staples, Regal, Old Navy, GameStop, CVS, Barnes and Noble and more.

From HipChip's Facebook Page

HipChip even refunds your money back if no one else joins your gift! They have a great FAQ section on their website that will answer any questions you may have and ease any worries. Only the organizer of the gift will get to see what each individual person donates.

WIN A PIZZA PARTY FOR YOUR CHILD'S CLASSROOM:

*HipChip is giving a pizza party to the first three classrooms in each state that use HipChip to give a gift to their teacher this holiday season.

If your classroom is one of the first three in your state to start a gift for your teacher, HipChip will give you a $50 gift card to Domino's.

This promotion is subject to the following additional terms and conditions:

Each teacher's gift card must be purchased from HipChip by December 31, 2013 and at least five people have to contribute to the teacher's gift. Each gift must be completed in accordance with HipChip’s Terms of Service. For full terms and conditions please visit the HipChip Facebook Page.

HipChip is not just for giving gifts to Teachers either. HipChip would be great for coaches, coworkers, bosses, family members, etc. It can be used for Birthdays, Holidays, Bereavement gifts, Group purchases (if everyone contributes you can have that Keurig machine for the office!) and more. The possibilities are endless. We will be using this in my office from here on out to collect money for Birthday gifts for coworkers. This makes it easier on me because I don't have to carry the cash around and remember to give it to the correct person. I also know that the entire amount is going to the person that it is meant for. It even makes it easier on the person collection the money. I love it!

In addition to their website and Facebook page, HipChip can also be found at:

That's interesting and not a bad idea. We haven't gone in on a gift for many years. This makes sense though if the parents can agree to do it together. Obviously the teacher would get a much nicer gift that way.

I told some parents at my school about it. I hope we can start using it going forward.
