Battle of the Sample Boxes : Ipsy vs. Sample Society {April}

It has been a crazy busy month! I received some awesome stuff in all of my beauty boxes. While Glossybox is quickly becoming my favorite, I still love all three of them. It truly is like receiving a Christmas present several times a month. Here are my Ipsy and Sample Society boxes for April.

*$10 a month
*It was started by Michelle Phan (who is a Youtube Beauty Guru)
*Every month you receive a make-up bag with deluxe samples and full sized products
*Take small surveys on the products you receive and give your friends your referral link for Ipsy points. Trade in the points for bonus items.
My April Bag:

* Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-on Eye Pencil in Black Velvet ($20 for 0.04oz , 0.03oz= $15)
* Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant ($78 for 2oz, 0.25oz or 7.5gm= $9.75)
* Big Sexy Hair Root Pump Volumizing Spray Mouse ($17.95 for 10.6oz, 1.6oz= $2.71)
* Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in Apple Pink (FULL SIZE $19)
* City Color White Gold Mousse shadow (FULL SIZE $3.99)
* Makeup bag (unknown value)
TOTAL before makeup bag: $50.45

Initial Thoughts: Pretty happy. I was thrilled when I opened up the bag and the first thing I saw was an Urban Decay 24/7 pencil. In case you haven't seen me profess my love yet...Urban Decay is THE BEST when it comes to eye products. I adore them. I have also come to love Dr. Brandt products. So, I was excited to see a Dr. Brandt product I hadn't tried. Then I got to the Big Sexy Hair. I absolutely hate this stuff. Luckily it is cheap and doesn't destroy the value of my bag. The City Color Mousse is pretty. I will probably try it on my eyes and if nothing else use it as a highlighter. I have never heard of Cailyn. It was intriguing at first. The applicator is kind of neat, but really bulky and unnecessary. The lip gloss itself is AWFUL. It is really drying and you have to apply it in front of a mirror. It will probably end up in the trash.

My April box:

* Butter London WINK eye pencil in Holland Park (FULL SIZE $18)
* Illume Anemon soy candle ($33.50 for 14.1oz, 1oz= $2.38)
* Dermalogica Precleanse wipes x2 ($18 for 20ct, 2= $2.22)
* H2O Plus Aquafirm Micro-Collagen Moisturizer ($50 for 1.7oz, 0.34oz= $10)
* Tatcha Original Aburatorigami (Japanese beauty papers) 30 ct (FULL SIZE $12)
TOTAL VALUE: $44.60

Initial Thoughts: Happy. I love everything in this box. I was particularly happy about the Butter London eye pencil. I have never tried anything but their nail polish (which I love) and I was excited to try this. I love the color and it is a full size eye pencil! I also adore the Illume candle. They are so cute and they smell awesome. I have some of these Tatcha sheets and they are great. The H2O Plus moisturizer is awesome. It makes your skin feel so silky and smooth. The Dermalogica Precleanse wipes confuse me a little. You need to "pre-cleanse"...as in cleanse before you cleanse? Huh. I will still use them though to remove makeup and cleanse my face after a night out. Overall, a great box.

This month's winner: Sample Society. While the value was less, it had more value to me because I will use everything in the box. I will not use the lip balm (which was $19 of the box total) or the Big Sexy Hair.
Do you get sample boxes? What did you get?
