St. Petersburg Staycation #StPete #Tampa #Staycation #FL

We had a week off of work for our Anniversary (6/27) and decided to stay home this year. There is so much to do around the St. Petersburg and Tampa area that we don't need to travel to have a great vacation. We had lots of plans and didn't even come close to getting everything on our wish list done. That's okay, a relaxing vacation is what we needed! We started off our Staycation with a trip to the Tropicana Field to watch the Tampa Bay Rays take on the Toronto Blue Jays.

I am a huge baseball fan. While our team lost, we still had a great time. It was a high scoring game, so it was very entertaining.

Dear Jose Bautista,

I have a lot of respect for you as a baseball player and cheer for you when you are not playing the Rays. However, I have seen you hit more than your fair share of home runs. You can stop now.

We also had a lot of great food while we were on vacation. I didn't take pictures of the majority of it (especially the nicer restaurants) because we were busy being romantic and enjoying each others company. However, I did snatch pictures at two of the restaurants.

The first set of pictures are from the Famous Lenny's in Clearwater (Alton Brown recommends them!!!):

Chicken and Waffles Benedict
Country Fried Steak
This was our second visit to Lenny's and we loved it just as much as the first time. They have a HUGE menu with lots of unique options on it. They also serve you a complimentary pastry basket with most meals (4-5 handmade and incredible pastries each!). Don't worry, they give you take home bags to take them with you too. Lenny's is not a place to visit if you are worried about calories. However, if you want great homemade food for breakfast or lunch...visit Lenny's.

We also finally made it to Casita Taqueria in St. Petersburg. They have two locations now and they have been on my list to try for awhile. We both ordered Casita bowls which had rice, guacamole, cheese, meat, beans, veggies and meat with tortillas on the side. We also ordered the special taco of the day. We tried Carnitas, Carne Asada and blackened fish for our proteins. The Carne Asada was definitely the stand out! It was really flavorful and was moist..which is rare for Carne Asada.

The day before our Anniversary...we bought a car!! Funny Fact: I normally hate hatchbacks. However, when I saw this Kia Forte EX...I fell in love. It is so much fun to drive! I Love it!

I also spent a lot of time with my favorite furball. We have recently discovered that my little man has an enlarged heart and heart failure. He has been to the vet a lot and his medications keep increasing, so I loved being able to spend extra time with him.

This picture was taken using a lens kit that attaches to your cell phone. Get it here (affiliate link):

We also spent some time yard sale shopping, visiting Farmer Markets, running errands, at the beach and with friends. We ended our vacation with another Rays game. Unfortunately, they lost again. It was a low scoring and frustrating game, but it didn't dampen our spirits. We had a fantastic vacation! What do you do on your Staycation?

Happy anniversary! Sounds like a fun staycation! I usually just venture over to Universal or stay home for Netflix binge watching for mine. You guys really made the most of it! Lenny's sounds delicious, I'll have to make a trip there!

I had a local trip to Orlando last weekend. It was great to enjoy the neighboring city like a tourist. You have a inspired me to rediscover Tampa before the summer ends.
